Rich Scotto's Wise 2086 Upgrade Notes

It's not quite as simple to do as it looks. It requires an above average mechanical skill/aptitude to layout and fabricate the components and mount assembly and it requires access to tools - some more advanced and not so common.

Originally (as you can see from the additional set of holes drilled in the aluminum plate) I made the mount low enough to accommodate 360 rotation of the turntable with a racquet mounted. After completing my first string job, I checked the string tension with a stringmeter - knowing what to expect for that particular setup.. Seeing that the tension was lower than expected and playing with it and feeling that it was very loose, I decided to adjust/increase the height of the mount at the expense of 360 rotation in order to overcome the drastic downward angle of the string pull. The excessive downward angle of string pull caused the friction between the string and grommets to skyrocket and the resulting component of horizontal pull was just much too low resulting in lower than expected tension and stringbed stiffness.

I can say with 100% confidence, that a straight pull (vertically and horizontally) thru the grommets and into the gripper is the single most important attribute that must be considered when adapting any dropweight machine to accept the Wise 2086.

I am glad I did it. I would do it again.
